Sunshine & Smiles

Image
Sunshine & Smiles (orig. published 7.7.11) Summer is  finally  here - hooray! Thank God for sunshine, blue skies, the laughter of children and the cool breeze from the lake. In summer, the song sings itself. We have been busy making the most of our summer vacation so far. We have been enjoying our boat quite a lot and the Tiny's are finally warming up to it. Rather, I should say, the tiny named Cayleigh is starting to enjoy it. Captain Colson has always enjoyed being on the boat. The feeling of the wind in his face, and the speed we achieve really elicits the sort of happiness you can see all around him. Someone build me a boat with a joystick and you've got yourself the world's first four year old captain. This, I promise you. Speaking of joysticks, the Tiny's visited the WIR raceway a few weeks back. Someone also build me a race car with a joystick and you'll have the world's first four year old race car driver. This, I also promise you. I'm certain h...

Bunny & Biscuit

Image
Bunny & Biscuit (orig. published 7.4.11) We enjoy doing things in pairs. Meet Bunny & Biscuit. The two new amazing members of our not so tiny anymore, family. We found these two sweet little things at a shelter in Indiana and fell in love at first sight. Just look at those faces! They are seven year old cockapoo's and they are wonderful. They are brother and sister, just like our Colson and Cayleigh! And, Cayleigh's nickname is Bunny! What a perfect match. They are incredibly mild mannered, they listen like we've had them their whole lives. They are soft and quiet and just adorable. They love the kids. Cayleigh cracks up every time Bunny even looks at her. Biscuit is Colson's doggie and Bunny is Bunny's! I'm fairly certain the dogs know this as well. Biscuit is more mild mannered and chills out just like Colson while Bunny is a little more crazy yet still sweet like our little lunatic Cayleigh. They are my constant shadow, and they are so incredibly bond...

It's a Miracle (League)!

It's a Miracle (League)  (orig. published 6.11.11) "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." -- Albert Einstein What amazing opportunities children of all abilities have these days. Colson had his first baseball game this last Wednesday, thanks to the community of Appleton, WI, the hearts and minds of The Miracle League of the Fox Valley, the teenagers, young adults and adults that have volunteered their time to support the children as buddys and as coaches, and the amazing children that have the ability to play. We had a blast, Colson was so surprised that he hit the ball (with the help of his buddy assisting Colson in swinging his arms) that he froze in place and didn't know what to do at first! Hah! He was waiting for someone to bring it back to him! Run Colson run we all said! And off to 1st base him and his buddy went. When he made it around all the bases, he ran up to the f...

Colson in Space & Miracle League! (orig. published 6.9.11) What a wonderful weekend we just had! We had Opening Day of the Miracle League - Colson's first team sport! We had a little celebration and met his buddy, Jessica who is wonderful, and we met all the other teams. It's going to be a wonderful summer! Brand New Legs

Image
Brand New Legs (orig. published 6.3.11) Has it been 6 weeks already? Actually, it's been 7 now. Can you believe it? Colson's casts are OFF!! This was the fastest 6 weeks of my life. Hopefully it was the fastest of Colson's as well. He's thrilled that they are off. They have been off for exactly one week now and he's come so far in just one week already. His legs are incredibly weak and very sensitive. He has to move in a different way. He no longer can lift his legs when I change his diaper (for you non-AMC-ers, yes, he's still in a diaper, it's a nerve/feeling issue). EVERYTIME we go to pick him up he makes sure to warn us to "pick me up carefully Mommy" and then, if we were successful in being careful he praises us on our careful ability-ness. "Good job Mommy, you were very careful with me" he will say. Thank you my son. They met other AMC'ers in Philadephia last week, including seeing the wonderful walking encylopedia  Tracey Shal...
