It's a Miracle (League)!

It's a Miracle (League) (orig. published 6.11.11)

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."

-- Albert Einstein

What amazing opportunities children of all abilities have these days. Colson had his first baseball game this last Wednesday, thanks to the community of Appleton, WI, the hearts and minds of The Miracle League of the Fox Valley, the teenagers, young adults and adults that have volunteered their time to support the children as buddys and as coaches, and the amazing children that have the ability to play.

We had a blast, Colson was so surprised that he hit the ball (with the help of his buddy assisting Colson in swinging his arms) that he froze in place and didn't know what to do at first! Hah! He was waiting for someone to bring it back to him! Run Colson run we all said! And off to 1st base him and his buddy went. When he made it around all the bases, he ran up to the fence and said "I scored Mommy! I scored! And I hit the ball and I ran really fast!". He had so much fun and was so proud of himself!

Him and his buddy Jessica were paired up because they both like to talk. And what a great pairing they are! I swear they forgot about the baseball game when they were in the outfield they were chatting so much. I would look over and there was Colson and Jessica, taking a nice little outfield walk back and forth sharing their life stories. So sweet. What a great pairing, Colson thinks she is just wonderful and is looking forward to seeing her again next week.

Thank you Miracle League and all the amazing sponsers and supporters. Laelia's Mommy said the other day something like "my child has a disability, only the 'dis' is silent" - perfect! Miracle League helps the 'dis' become silent for Colson and other children too! What a wonderful thing for a community or an individual to support. If you or anyone you know would like to support the Miracle League of the Fox Valley in any way, please visit http://www.foxvalleymiracleleague.com/ and consider a donation of your time, purchase a t-shirt or hat,  or become a sponser if you are a business owner! Additionally, Colson's friend Eli in Pennsylvania and his family and community are trying very hard to build their very own field of dreams. Eli has arthrogryposis just like Colson and was the 1st little boy Colson ever met that was just like him. Please consider supporting their Field of Dreams!

Looking forward to a wonderful summer of new experiences, new friends, and new memories.

Much love.
