Tiny Artist

Tiny Artist (orig. published 4.2.11)

I adore it when my son is proud. I love seeing him feel accomplished, and I love watching him reap the rewards that compliments can bring him. That proud smile, its just my favorite thing. Colson had his artwork featured at the monthly Oshkosh Downtown Gallery Walk tonight, along with the artwork of his classmates from his school Peter Pan. It was adorable! All these miniature canvas paintings displayed around the room. A local artist named Laura had visited the school and taught them all how to paint using different techniques. Colson painted using a palettte knife, and his artwork was beautiful. We are going to bring it home and frame it. It was also nice to meet some of his classmates, since Daddy takes Colson to and from school, I don't ever get to see who he is friends with, or who his teachers are. We met Noah and Maggie and a couple other little friends that all gathered around Colson to chat. Noah and Colson were just the cutest together. Its nice to meet them and see who maybe we can start having over for playdates.

My lovely cousin Katie and her sweet girls Grace and Faith came to the walk as well, along with their little friend Natalia. Everyone was so amazingly well behaved! The girls got adorable little colored hair extensions at one of the shops we stopped at and Colson got to try on some dragon ears!

All the kids waited so patiently for the girls extensions to be ready:

Cayleigh typically wants to walk when we go somewhere, and she will put her baby in her place in the stroller, so this time, I brought a stroller just for her baby. She insisted on walking the entire time and we walked quite a distance! She was slow, but incredibly adorable.

Who sleeps like this?

In other news: Mama got crafty and made Cayleigh a pillow. I suppose winter cabin fever will do that to you. I was thinking about making more and trying to sell them on etsy.com. What do you all think? They are made with felt, entirely hand sewn and I used yarn with sparkle yarn to sew the pillow together, and sparkle felt for the legs, and wing of the bird, ya know, to add to the girly-ness. The eye is a pink button. This is the very first thing I ever sewn, so be kind :). I wanted it to look handmade too. If you know anyone who would like one, please let me know! I can do other images on the front of the pillow, and also other sizes, just ask! I'm working on some original art for Colson's new space room, as well as a new chore chart and some hairbows for Cayleigh. Pics to come.

Flight Fest at EAA tomorrow. Colson is super excited. I'll be sure to take pictures.

Much love
